Cultural Tours

Day 1: Nairobi – Maasai Mara
Leave Nairobi in the morning and drive through spectacular coutryside and the famous Rift Valley. Picnic lunch en route. Game viewing en route to your luxury lodge/tent for overnight. (Lunch and Dinner included.)

Day 2: Maasai Mara
Morning and afternoon game viewing in Maasai Mara famous as the scene of the annual migration of the wildebeest and also one of the last outposts of densely concentrated and diverse game. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.)

Day 3: Maasai Mara - Kisii
Pre-breakfast game viewing in Maasai Mara Game Reserve. After breakfast drive out of the Park through Kilgoris town with picnic lunch to Kisii town. We visit the Tabaka Soapstone mining quarries and also talk to the carvers as we watch them make sculptures from the soapstone. In the evening we proceed to our Hotel in Kissi Town for dinner and overnight. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.)

Day 4: Kisii – Kakamega Forest
We visit Keumbu area to view pineapple and banana plantations, the lifeblood of the local community. We drive further past the Ahero falconry to Kisumu town for lunch. We proceed to Kakamega where we visit the Crying Stone, and listen to the folklore attach to this weeping edifice. Dinner and overnight at the Rondo Retreat Center or similar. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.)

Day 5: Kakamega Forest
A full day is spent exploring the attractions of Kakamega forest and local villages. Kakamega forest is famous for its rare species of botanical plants including orchids, butterflies and birds. A early morning talk with the keepers of the forest give visitors an insight on what is being done to preserve this forest; which is one of the only traces remaining of a tropical rain forest that once spread across the equator from the Atlantic Ocean to the shores of the Indian Ocean. Dinner and overnight at Rondo Retreat Center or similar. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.)

Day 6: Kakamega – Misori Beach
After breakfast we proceed to the Misori Beach situated on the shores of Lake Victoria. Our aim is to sample the modern and traditional fishing methods of the locals. A boat ride to a nearby Island to see the statue of two fighting bulls is also included. Overnight in a local hotel. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.)

Day 7: Misori Beach – Kisumu
Visit the Kit Mikayi, a gigantic bolder that, according to Luo folklore is believed to be the remains of a lady who was forced out of her homestead by a jealous husband. We proceed to Lwanda Magere – this stone is consodered to be the remains of a mighty Luo warrior who was killed after a betrayal by his wife. Overnight in local homestead or hotel. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.)

Day 8: Kisumu – Lake Baringo
After breakfast drive through the Kericho Tea Plantations to Lake Baringo (an excellent bird watchers' destination) with lunch in Nakuru.Most of the afternoon is spent watching the myriad birds that grace the shores of this Rift Valley Lake. Proceed through Lake Bogoria (scene of hot water springs that is a small reflection of the activity taking place below the earth's crust that resulted in the formation of the spectacular Rift) to your hotel for overnight. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.)

Day 9: Lake Baringo – Nairobi
After breakfast take a boat trip to visit the Njemps Fishermen's village. Drive back to Nairobi after lunch seeing the pink shores( a result of thousands of pink flamingoes feeding on the lakes) of Nakuru and Lake Elmentaita and drinking past Lake Naivasha one of the few fresh water lakes in the Great Rift Valley. (Breakfast and lunch are included.)
